  Question about Jw

  do you think it's possible for the society to start screaming "peace and security" after all this child molestation thing blows.

  ...i understand most of the people believe that it is the world's kingdom that are going to be screaming this...but if they are.

  the 'wild beast' in revelation does that not make them part of the world itself?

  As you well know, the declaration of peace & security (according to WTS) will most certainly trumpet loudly from the world leaders, or more to the point, the United Nations/US (plus, no doubt, the UK & member states of the EU). So a miracle would occur, whereby the nations would be united upon the throne of peace by human means. This is the vision as far as the society are concerned. As far as I know, still to this very day (correct me if I am ignorant here).

  It is highly unlikely that the society would issue a statement of peace & security themselves, as this goes against years of their teaching and would shake the faith of many loyal followers, I'm sure.

  One thing is sure - time will tell

  Certain X-rated movies could break Bible principles (quite clearly) .... so I think this needs to be struck off the list !

  Two I now recall are:

  Being a vegetarian (I was oppressed by peers in the congregation)

  Having a beard !! (very silly indeed, surely a matter for your personal choice?)

  JW behavior at my worldly aunt's funeral

  it's been a few months since i've been here, so i thought i'd stop in and say hello.

  i also wanted to to tell you a story about my jw mother's behavior at my worldly aunt's funeral.

  this isn't a post of any educational value, just a post for me to rant, so read on if you would like.. about two weeks ago, i attended a funeral for my aunt julie who, after suffering with cancer for about two years, lost her battle with the disease and passed away.

  I think it is important to remember that people deal with grief in different ways and me being English, and typically raised to be reserved in many ways, would not be used to a funeral where everybody plays an active role. To me this would not be normal behaviour and if forced, I may well act in a seemingly inappropriate way and speak out of turn.

  Also, I would not personally join in with a group prayer (which I view as being a serious spiritual statement) if I felt that the group were not wholly sincere in their conviction or I shared a different faith from the group. Which I think is reasonable behaviour.

  It is a JWs faith to not grieve like the rest and instead try and inject faith in the resurrection (as you all know) and as annoying as this may have been and arguably inappropriate, given the circumstances, it is however understandable on one level.

  I'm sure your mother did not try to offend anybody by her actions.

  Maybe there is a lesson to be learnt. If you have a JW at a funeral and expect participation of somesort, to approach that individual before the funeral and discuss what the group consider to be appropriate behaviour.

  Personally speaking at a funeral, I will keep very quite and sit towards the back of the hall and be quietly reflective.

  okay...i'm not all that computer literate...so here's the thing..i tried doing the picture up load thingy...profile..click click and type in my name and password, then browse the computer here ...click the picture i want...and click upload..or whatever.......and this is what i get: server error in '/' application.. .

  runtime error .

  I am glad you feel that way Rachel and I hope that others feel that way as well within your congregation.

  I think the main point that came out of the programme, which would be wise council for your governing body, is not to be so rigid and blinkered to the reality of the manipulative paedophile mind. It is fine to keep an internal record of suspected paedophiles, but this should have been made available to the secular police force a long time ago. This serves to further protect the victims of abuse and also to give the organisation that you belong to a good standing in the eyes of the law.

  It is ok to question the intentions of your peers. It really is. They are human, the same as you and do make mistakes ! I would hope that the governing body are grown up enough to humble themselves and admit to their error in this particular instance.

  I hope you don't get too much grief when you knock on those doors Believe me, when I used to attend meetings / go on the ministry, I had my fair share of abuse. It was actually quite good fun seeing somebody blow their lid ! At least I thought so, but then I am a very sick man.
